The Blue Vase
This painting started when the rummaging through the vase closet searching for a vase suitable for freshly clipped yellow roses. The colors of the vase and the roses worked well together but felt top heavy. I tried adding the lavender sprig but that did not really help. The beetle and the butterfly created a compositional pyramid and stability.
