Inspired by a toddler intensely sucking his thumb, this sculpture gained the architectural molding as a nod to the Renaissance when portrait reliefs were in their heyday. The halo wondered in along the way. Bas relief sculpture is a combination of the two-dimensional pictorial arts and the three-dimensional sculptural arts. It is three-dimensional art appearing as a two-dimensional art form.
